Job SummaryThe Purchasing Agent is responsible for coordinating and
performing acquisition activities for an array of goods and
services for various departments within the Kenaitze Indian Tribe;
conducting research and value analysis on products, services, and
equipment; assisting staff with the purchasing process; and
performing procurement activities.Essential Functions
- Manage requisition software Administer user access, train new
users, and maintain system setup
- Receive and review purchase requisitions, issue purchase
orders
- Determine and prepare product, equipment, or service
specifications/scope of work/deliverables for use during purchasing
activity
- Determine and perform most effective method of acquisition for
goods and services in accordance with policy and procedures
- Handle shipping and receiving logistics, perform inventory
management
- Research applicable procurement-related compliance requirements
to incorporate into purchasing and procurement processes as
needed
- Develop procurement documents and facilitate the entire
procurement process
- Perform centralized purchasing activities
- Assist with special events duties as assigned
- Maintain positive, ethical work relationships with vendors
- Conflict resolution and problem solving
- Monitor vendor performance and compliance with terms and
conditions
- Maintain detailed procurement records to include solicitation
documents, contract documents, amendments, correspondence, reports,
and support documentation
- Advise programs on purchasing related issues and provide
training
- Generate reports as directedIt is the intent of this job

- Associate's Degree in Business or related field, or a
combination of education and experience in a related field may be
substituted for a degree Experience
- Three (3) years of experience in lieu of a degreePreferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field
- Experience with government procurement
- CPPO or CPPB preferred
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural
diversitiesLicense/Certification
- Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain
insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of
hireSpecial Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong technical writing skills
- Must be detailed and organized
- Multitask and handle multiple priorities
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90
