Mckinnell HouseScope of Position/Essential Functions:Congregate
meals are a part of the Nutrition, Transportation and Support
Program contract with Alaska Department of Health and Social
Services and delivers services to clients of the Older Alaskans
Program. Services under this contract include meals, assisted
transportation and homemaker activities. Congregate Meal Site
Managers are responsible for the daily operations of a congregate
meals site.JOB FUNCTIONSEnsure that all Federal, State and
Municipal guidelines are met. These include but are not limited to
ensure compliance with all food service, food code and sanitation
guidelines and codes.
- Ensure current food service permit is posted.
- Post menus and publicize the congregate meal program.
- Ensure that the amount of food ordered is delivered.
- Ensure proper portion control is used at all times.
- Monthly, provide information onnutrition education.
- Provide, on-going opportunities for socialization and other
programs.
- Load and unload the transport vehicle with the food
container
- Transport heated meals save and in time to the meal side
- Serve the food to the clients
- Requisitions needed supplies and maintains Inventory
control.
- Assist with meal service as needed
- Occasional delivering food directly to the clients on one of
the assigned routes
- Facility:
- Keep site and equipment in good working order; report needed
repairs.
- Ensure site is safe and comfortable for seniors.
- Maintain an up-to-date bulletin board and other
information.
- Ensure that proper cleaning and maintenance schedules are in
place and carried out.
- Service Access:
- Provide and document outreach to ensure that seniors are aware
of the congregate meal site.
- Periodically, review access to the facility and report any
problems to supervisor.
- Assist program participants by making appropriate referrals or
providing assistance with referrals.
- Program Activities and Services:
- Solicit Input from program participants as to menus,
activities, and hours of operations. Assist in the distribution and
collection of quarterly participant surveys.
- Plan and implement social and/or educational activities.
- Make contact with program participants who are absent for
extended periods of extended periods.
- Administrative policies, record keeping and program reports:
- Implement and observe a confidential process whereby program
participants can contribute to the program:
- Keep daily attendance records for meals and activities.
- Assure particle at eligible using the client profiles for all
new program participants with annual re-certification July of each
program year.
- Account for contributions received for program
participants.
- Maintain an organized filing system of all program information
and forms and be responsible for securing such Information.
- Keep the Operations Manager informed, at all-times, of all
activities relating to the meal site to include but not limited,
health inspections, food order problems, participant problems, and
the like.
- Provide supervision and training to assigned staff, volunteers
and/or trainees
- Coordinate all volunteer activities with the Operations Manager
to assure compliance with all TSA and other regulations;
- Submit all reports end requested Information in a timely
manner.
- Participant in scheduled training activities and scheduled
In-Service Training.
- Other duties as assigned Requirements:
- Obtain and maintain basic First Aid, CPR and Food Service
certificates.
- Participate in training to be able to assess client health and
function at a professional level.
- Additional related training as it becomes available
- Must be able to regularly lift to 30-50 pounds Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Direct working experience with older adults, preferred
- Willing to with and serve clients with age-related limitations
and other disabilities.
- Experience working with elderly in multicultural setting, as a
plus
- English language ability sufficient to understand and carry out
Instructions and accurately complete required documentation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; be
responsible, well organized, and dependable.
- Ability to pass background investigation.
- Stable work history with minimum two years' work experience
where food service was the focus of the work.
- Excellent interpersonal skillsSoftware-related Skills:
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook familiarity preferred. Working
knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use
new software programs with basic training.Language Skills: Must be
able to understand, follow and give both written and oral
instructions and be comfortable working with diverse individuals in
face-to-face contact and over the telephone. The employee must be
able to use speech and hearing for ordinary and telephone
conversation.Mathematical Skills: Must be able to perform simple
calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
and apply concepts such as ratios and percentages in practical
situations.Performance Skills: Must be punctual, organized,
self-motivated, flexible, and possess a desire to learn and assist
those he/she interacts with. Protect the Mission: Must complete the
online course for this area and pass the Background Checks required
by The Salvation Army for employment.Driver Requirements: Must be a
licensed driver with acceptable driving history. Must also complete
and pass The Salvation Army Driver Safety Course.Acknowledgement of

Qualifications
EducationHigh School or Equivalent (required)
Experience2 years: Stable work history with minimum two years' work
