GCI's Mgr, Supply Chain- Demand Planner will provide management in Demand Planning area of GCI's supply chain department. Oversee and manages overall Demand Planning logistical operations to maximize efficiency and minimize cost of organization's supply chain. Collaborate with multiple-functional managers to plan and execute on the development of a distribution center operational process to enable seamless transfers. Manage and monitor vendor's qualification and performance to ensure they meet company's requirements. Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
Demand Planning Focus: This role is responsible for facilitating the forecasting, communications, and alignment between available materials (supply) and the material needed (demand) by internal clients and retail stores. This role is also responsible for planning picking assignments, expediting picking assignments, rescheduling picking assignments, and communicating status and changes to internal clients. The leadership in this role will focus on building relationships with internal clients and vendors, coaching staff, training employees, and working closely with marketing, retail stores, sales, receiving, purchasing, provisioning, fulfillment, and shipping. The leader will be responsible for key performance indicators, process documentation, identifying and correcting process defects, achieving process efficiency goals, and maintaining quality of transactions. Additionally, the leader will be a champion for insights and improvements needed in the supply chain organization. - - Essential Duties of Position:

  • Fully own the mission, goals, operations, and results of the team. - This responsibility is non-delegable.
  • Provide strong leadership to the VP's management team. - This includes generating enthusiasm and shared commitment; identifying and setting new directions; teaching, growing, and empowering; owning outcomes; and leading by example. - This responsibility is non-delegable. - Specific leadership duties include: -
  • Establishing the vision and tone for the department, consistent with company culture and mission.
  • Establishing clear goals and performance expectations. -
  • Hiring individuals who can accomplish those goals and meet those expectations, and providing them the open communications, training, tools, and mentoring they need to be successful and develop professionally, and a development path commensurate with capabilities and potential.
  • Providing clear and accurate feedback to individuals and teams on a timely and consistent basis. Identifying and addressing performance problems early and effectively before they damage GCI's interests and demoralize other employees. - These processes include annual performance reviews, compensation adjustments, promotions, demotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions up to and including termination.

    Manage alignment and achievement of assigned area:

      • Manage goals within department's strategic vision.
      • Be in integral team member for corporate-wide initiatives to ensure appropriate support.
      • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. -
      • Manage projects related to daily operations and business development. -
      • Manage assigned supply chain processes.
      • Provide support for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
      • Manage processes for logistical support and ensure personnel are trained on the use of the proper processes.
      • Develop, maintain, and audit system processes and procedures.

        Management and Leadership: Manage staff in day-to-day performance. Responsible for hiring, leading, developing and managing the performance by those reporting to this position, establishes and communicates clear performance expectations, and makes recommendations for salary increases. Sets the tone for continuing training requirements of key individuals to ensure that the team is prepared to take full advantage of key advances in the technologies used by GCI to improve and add new services for our customers. Provide timely annual performance reviews to all direct reports and ensure that all employees within the department receive annual performance reviews on time. Responsible for team results and recommends and /or approves promotions, demotions, transfers, or disciplinary actions up to and including termination. Maintains union free workforce through effective communication and regular feedback to employees regarding their performance against expectations and use of effective performance recognition of groups involved. -
        Provide internal and external customers with support and ensure satisfaction. - Build and maintain good customer relations serves as point-of-contact for major business lines, conduct Customer Satisfaction Reviews and address customer concerns. Build and maintain relationships with outside vendors to include contract negotiations, contract monitoring and conflict resolution.
        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

        • Leadership: - Proven ability to manage a team to high levels of performance while maintaining morale and personal growth for employees in a union free environment. Ability to act as a positive mentor and coach to subordinates and instill a coaching environment in the organization. Ability to lead and align team and department's goals with organization's strategic vision. -
        • Financial: - Familiar with reporting and tracking tools necessary to assure budget guidelines meet expectations.
        • Analytical: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex challenging problems and situations leading to optimal solutions.
        • Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication required. Must be able to articulate information in presentation format in front of internal and external customers.
        • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of telecom supply market capabilities, pricing, competition, licensing and commercial models, best practices, procurement methods, business process, tools and templates, contractual models, and effective stakeholder management. Knowledge of best practices and industry trends in key areas of responsibility (e.g., logistics, purchasing, contract administration). Proficiency with Oracle Purchasing and Inventory modules, as well as MS Word, Excel, and Exchange. -
        • Building Relationships: Highly effective at building relationships with executives, peers, and subordinates; strong influencing skills and credibility.
        • Results Oriented: Completes category management & sourcing activities within agreed timeframes; identifies savings & optimizations.
        • Problem Solving: Able to use judgment and escalate where necessary to extract maximum value from category & sourcing teams

          Minimum Qualifications:

          • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in Supply Chain, "sourcing, purchasing, warehouse, logistics, provisioning, fulfillment, demand planning, forecasting" contract administration, business administration retail/ customer service, or related field required.
          • Of which to include two (2) years' experiences in a supervisory/managerial or experience in a leadership type role "leading a process, project, program" or have attended a leadership training program.
          • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
          • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Finance, or relevant field required.
          • In addition to minimum experience required, degree may be substituted with relevant work experience on a year-for-year basis.

            A combination of relevant work and/or education to perform the duties of the job may substitute for minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.
            Certifications:Industry specific certifications are highly valued and can contribute toward education.

            Physical Requirements: Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. - Clarity of vision to see near, mid-range, and color. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
            Working Conditions: The work area must be quiet and free of distractions. Lighting must be adequate and without glare. Distracting noises should be kept to a minimum. The employee's desk must be adequate, designed to safely accommodate the equipment the employee must use, e.g., computer, printer, keyboard, monitor etc. The employee must have reliable connectivity to the internet to access GCI via VPN. -Employee workstation must comply with GCI's ergonomics standards. -
            Work can be intense and stressful due to time/resource limitations when scheduling multiple tasks with inflexible deadlines. Occasional overtime, travel, or weekend work may be required. -Primarily an office environment. The position location may vary depending on need. Must be able to remain productive with interruptions, distractions, and noise. This position may require extended hours and/or weekend schedules and travel throughout the state. The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the core business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.
            Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
