Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises assigned aircraft maintenance personnel to assure safe,
on-time completion of all work assigned and to provide serviceable
airworthy aircraft for scheduled operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises aircraft maintenance activities performed by all shifts
to assure the efficient utilization of assigned personnel,
discipline, the quantity and quality of production and the
cleanliness of facilities at the ANC Main base and Ad Hoc
operations
Supervises other maintenance managers
Engaged servant leader that fosters a positive, inclusive, and
productive work environment
Devoted champion of continuous improvement, 5S, and Lean
Ensures all maintenance tasks are performed safely, has the
appropriate PPE, and ensures it is utilized regularly and
correctly
Ensures assigned personnel are qualified to perform the maintenance
functions assigned to them and increases the technical knowledge of
assigned personnel wherever possible.
Coordinates with the Quality Control department as required
Maintains shift schedules of assigned personnel adequate for
production to include but not limited to: Ad Hoc and EEC operation
personnel scheduling, vacation scheduling, overtime approval,
attendance monitoring and sick time usage
Coordinates with other departments in order to accomplish all
maintenance functions, in accordance with Northern Air Cargo
Maintenance Manuals, policies and procedures and applicable Code of
Federal Regulations.
Monitors all maintenance paperwork including inspection forms, work
orders, aircraft flight logs and miscellaneous Company forms to
assure it is promptly and accurately completed and forwarded as
required
Integrates assigned personnel into working groups to assure that
they are assigned duties for which they are properly qualified and
take appropriate action to upgrade personnel skills and
qualifications as necessary
If needed, perform buy back inspection of Company RII items as
defined in the appropriate aircraft Maintenance Procedures Manual
and General Maintenance Manual, including Logbook/Airworthiness
release
Assures that assigned work areas, buildings, equipment, and
materials which are utilized for aircraft maintenance are in safe,
clean, and operative condition
Assists in the control of the Minimum Equipment List Management
Program by using the Minimum Equipment List only on an as needed
basis and assuring that if the item is deferred for lack of parts
that parts are requested and expedited to accomplish repairs as
soon as practical
Acts as backup Maintenance Control Manager or Coordinator.
Reports any problems or incidents to the Director of Maintenance
and the appropriate department as outlined on the incident report
form
Reports the status of all aircraft, assigned personnel and
equipment to the Director of Maintenance on a set routine basis
Audit all aircraft work packages and records to ensure all
maintenance documentation is properly completed and sent to NAC QC
Records department in a timely fashion
Suggests and discusses with the Director of Maintenance ways to
improve the operation of the Maintenance department.
Assists in evaluating equipment, vehicles and tooling used by the
Company
Assists Director of Maintenance in ensuring proper tooling and
equipment are available to perform required tasks
Coordinates with Maintenance Trainer concerning the requirements
for on-the-job training and accomplishes on-the-job training as
required.
Approves assigned employees straight time and overtime
Fosters a positive and productive work environment
Provide effective leadership and ensure all team members receive
appropriate coaching, mentoring and development
Coordinates with other NAC departments such as, SOCC, Flight
Operations, NAC QC, QC Records, Stores and MX Control to ensure
timely completion of all MX and Flight Schedules are met
Evaluates the work performance of assigned employees on an annual
basis and gives regular feedback throughout the year
Directs the work of assigned employees and initiates disciplinary
actions when necessary
Acts as point of contact for any workplace concerns raised by
employees and makes initial evaluation
Fill in for Director of Maintenance as needed
Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Hold a mechanic certificate with airframe and powerplant
ratings
Have 5 years of experience in a position responsible for returning
airplanes to service
Need at least 5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity
maintaining the
same category and class of airplane as the Company uses
Strongly prefer supervisory experience in full cycle of
responsibilities including hiring, training, staff development,
progressive discipline, and terminations
Need strong leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to
coach and mentor team as well as foster a positive and productive
work environment
Demonstrated ability to establish positive, collaborative
relationships across departments/operating companies and work
cooperatively to solve problems
Ability to rapidly acquire/analyze information and make
well-reasoned decisions
ETOPS and international aviation experience strongly preferred
Ability to quickly learn and apply contents of General Maintenance
Manual and all other company policies/procedures
Requires a valid driver's license and good driving record
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening, background
check and receive TSA clearance to work in secure area
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Positions at this level have a high level of communication with
company leadership, varied internal stakeholders, staff,
regulators, external stakeholders, etc.
Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
Demonstrated ability to give clear written and oral instructions to
team members, vendors, or other stakeholders
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write reports, procedures manuals, correspondence, and
other related materials.
Requires ability to respond effectively verbally and in writing to
inquiries from regulators.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Office is inside maintenance hangar directly adjacent to space
where aircraft maintenance work is performed
May be exposed to noise, adverse weather conditions (extreme cold
or heat), fumes, wet surfaces, and icy conditions
This position primarily works in the office, but will spend time in
the hangar, outdoor airline ramp, etc.
PHYSICAL EFFORT
The employee is regularly required to sit and sometimes stand
The employee will need to see (including close vision), speak, and
hear
Manual dexterity is required for input into or manipulation of
spreadsheets, composing composition and reports, etc.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
