EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAveragePercentof Time35 % Inspect guestrooms, public space and back of the house for areas to repair, touch up or replace.35 % Repairs, or replace items such as light bulbs, lamps, switches, outlets, faucets, toilets, hardware, filters, paint, furniture, wall coverings, caulking, grouting or other miscellaneous items.15 % Assists other department team members in the systematic application of the preventive maintenance program.5 % Makes records of repairs made, or areas needing further attention.SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONSIn addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform acombination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing eachfunction to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of thecompany. --- Maintains inventory of supplies needed to perform job function. --- Reports major repairs and items that cannot be repaired to the dispatcher for further action and if necessary, place a room out of order. --- Due to the nature of the business the individual may be required to do other duties and special projects as assigned by the supervisor, such as water proofing, shop clean up and labeling of hazardous materials.Position Purpose:Maintains the guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas in good repair by performing varioustasks related to a variety of trades including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, airconditioning, painting, wall covering and masonry to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to andincluding termination of employment.SAFETY REQUIREMENTSOSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) whenperforming work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety: o Latex and / or rubber gloves o Safety glasses o Safety belts o Gloves, protective work boots, hard hat, as needed o Closed toe with rubber solesAssociates will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. The hotel provides therequired PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipmentthat does not fit properly, to your Manager.Exposures: In this job you will be exposed to cleaning chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold,heat, dust, and noise.Upon employment, all team members are required to fully comply with JL HospitalityManagement rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Teammembers who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to andincluding termination.ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPSPositions directly reporting to this position (titles): NoneSPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITYThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explainand demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or withoutreasonable accommodation. o Knowledge of all maintenance trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry. o Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment. o Working knowledge of basic hand and power tools. o Basic English language communication and mathematical skills in order to communicate with co- workers fully comprehend job assignments and perform accurate simple arithmetic functions..QUALIFYING STANDARDSEDUCATIONHigh School graduate or equivalent preferred but not necessaryEXPERIENCEBasic experience in maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATESAbility to obtain any government required license or certificate. CPR certification and/or First Aidtraining preferred.GROOMING/UNIFORMSAll associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniformguidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientationprocess. Hotel issued nametags are a part of the uniform and must be worn at all times by bothuniformed as well as nonuniformed associates. It is important for our guests to be able toidentify us by name. Nametags should be worn on the right side of the uniform unless otherwiserequired by brand standards.NOTICE:The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day. In addition,this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with JL Hospitality Managementrules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.
