SUMMARY Under the supervision of the General Counsel, the Corporate Risk and Safety Technician helps monitor and manage the company's risk and safety policies, including implementation of training, insurance administration, and risk and loss control. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Implementation and review of appropriate safety and risk policies for company staff and operations. - Coordinating with Legal and Operations to determine and respond to safety and risk needs. - Work with Legal and the business units to develop loss control policies, procedures and programs. - Work with the Human Resources Department to ensure new and existing employees meet standards of safety and insurability. - Review contracts, solicitations, and other corporate documents for risk related items. - Working with the Legal Department and hired lawyers to provide insurance information and research required in cases of claims, arbitration and so forth. - Implementing appropriate policies and procedures relating to the company's risk and safety matters. - Work with operating units to develop appropriate training for risk and safety. - Providing analyses and recommendations regarding safety, training and so forth. - Work with project safety directors and program managers to augment and enhance safety programs at the project level; - Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience - Minimum of 5 years working in in management positions with risk and safety exposure/experience - Experience with Department of Defense or federal contracting preferred. - Background in maintenance and/or construction projects - Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) Skills, Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of principles, practices and terminology of occupational medicine, safety and ADA laws and regulations, principles and practices of loss reduction and loss control which include planning, program review, personnel certification and qualifications, corrective action and follow up action, audits documentation control, trend analysis development and monitoring. - Excellent interpersonal, analytical, research and communication (written and verbal) skills, problem solving skills, and demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations. - Customer service focused and have good time management skills. - Detail-oriented, proactive and well organized. - Works independently and as part of a team, exercises sound judgement and considerable initiative to determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift moderately light items up to 35 pounds. Near visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone and keyboard; lift horizontally and vertically. Assignments may require travel and work assignments at other locations. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Most of the job performance is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Support personnel as needed. Additional Qualifying Factors: Must have a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States and for TTI are required.
