    Position Summary:The Research Compliance Administrator in UAA's Office of Research Integrity and Compliance is an administrative specialist responsible for research compliance activities.
    Duties:
    15% As assigned by the EDCC performs additional duties including but not limited to: reviews and updates of standard operating procedures, forms, and institutional agreements; prepares drafts for letters to researchers and agencies from designated officials; support for preparation and submission of reports to the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) Office of Research Integrity; participates in post-approval monitoring and quality improvement of protection programs.     20% The administrative specialist receives and routes to appropriate person incoming telephone calls and emails for assistance from faculty, staff, and students with projects requiring IRB or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) review. Advises faculty, staff and students in preparation of applications for research involving human subjects and animal care and use. Reports weekly to the Executive Director of Commercialization & Compliance (EDCC). Essential
    25% As assigned by the EDCC on request by the IRB and the IACUC Chairpersons accurately prepares and records full, convened, IRB and IACUC meeting deliberations. Ensures each member receives agenda and protocol applications with sufficient time for review prior to meetings. As assigned by the EDCC on request by the IRB Chairperson drafts IRB action letters to research investigators resulting from those meetings, subject to final review and approval from the chairperson of the appropriate committee. Maintains a database of human subject research determinations, IRB approved protocols, IACUC approved protocols, annual reviews and disapproved protocol. Essential
    30% Serves as a contact between the Office of Research Integrity and Compliance and principal investigators/undergraduate/graduate researchers to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures regarding Human Subjects Research, Animal Care and Use, Radiation Safety, and Chemical Safety. Advise management of potential problems and findings when problems are identified. Work is performed under administrative supervision. Requires knowledge and experience to perform several office assignments, using various audio/visual technology equipment, and following established procedures. Essential
    5% Attends regional and/or national conferences for continuing education. This will be done in person when possible or via webinars. Completes all Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program modules on human subject research. Essential
    5% Maintains the registration of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Human Research Protections (OHRP). Essential
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Required
    --- Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, Federal Drug Administration, PHS, Office for Human Research Protection, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations, guidelines, and institutional policies.
    --- Knowledge and understanding of review processes.
    --- Knowledge and experience with the IRBNet and CITI systems, and MS products such as Excel and Word.
    --- Knowledge and experience with ClinicalTrials.gov.
    --- Knowledge and experience with content management systems for Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility compliance.
    --- Knowledge and experience with electronic data collection and Human Intelligent Task platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, MTurk).

    Preferred Experience & Education:
    6 years compliance administration experience in human subject research oversight and animal use and care oversight.
    Required Experience & Education:
    Associate's degree in related field and two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience and professional certifications (for example, Professional Certification from PRIM&R).
    Salary Information:
    This is a full-time, 12-month, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary andfull employee benefits package (https://alaska.edu/jobs/benefits.php) . New hires will be placed on theUA staff salary schedule (https://www.alaska.edu/hr/benefits/compensation/files/fy24_staff_salary_grid.pdf) , Grade 78, based on education and experience.
