  • Categories: Communications/Public Relations/Marketing Position Summary:The UAA University Relations team is responsible for public relations, communications, marketing, and branding of the institution. The digital communications specialist supports this mission through website maintenance, email marketing, editorial and social media support and more. The position is responsible for day-to-day management and production of digital communication publications, newsletters, and platforms.
    Duties: Editorial Support:--- Assists with editorial process, including proofreading and writing for internal and external public relations and marketing communications materials for a wide range of communication channels, including the web.--- Occasionally produces content for both electronic and print publications, such as feature stories; brochures; handbooks; newsletters; fact sheets; student, faculty and alumni profiles; HTML email; social media and other communications as assigned.--- Edits and proofreads communications materials for grammar, clarity and compliance with Associated Press style--- Supports development of communications and editorial plans--- Other duties as assigned Social Media Support:--- Serves as back-up for social media and other departmental tasks--- Updates and monitors social media accounts in the absence of social media coordinator--- Assists with the development of social and digital media assets as necessary Email and Digital Marketing:--- Manages content curation within email marketing systems (mainly Marketing Cloud) to produce and distribute university e-newsletters Seawolf Daily, Seawolf Students and UAA Monthly--- Utilizes existing templates in CRM system to build email communications on behalf of university leadership--- Prepares reports on email campaign analytics to evaluate effectiveness--- Monitors departmental email account(s), responds to general inquiries and routes other inquiries as necessary--- Trains staff members on email automation tools--- Participates in training and planning sessions to optimize email marketing strategy Website Maintenance:--- Utilizes CMS to edit the UAA homepage as needed and maintain the Office of University Advancement and Green & Gold News websites--- Generates web analytics reports as necessary--- Creates websites and webpages for key university initiatives on a project basis per chancellor priorities--- Liaises with IT Services to implement advancement and key university web projects and troubleshoot web issues--- Trains Advancement staff on new website features--- Reviews submissions to UAA master calendar--- Updates UAA website accordingly in emergency situations Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: --- Knowledge of communications and web best practices
    --- Knowledge of web and email marketing tools and resources
    --- Skilled in CRM systems and/or other email automation tools
    --- Skilled in web editing and maintenance, especially through a CMS system
    --- Skilled in writing and copy editing
    --- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Google applications such as Docs, Slides, Sheets, etc.
    --- Ability to provide advice, guidance and training in relevant technical areas
    --- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse individuals and groups and work successfully as a member of a team
    --- Ability to maintain confidentiality
    --- Ability to multitask in a timely manner to meet deadlines

    Typical Experience: Minimum of one to two years of experience relevant to the position. Required Education or Training: Bachelor's degree in communications, information technology, marketing, public relations, journalism, or related field. Salary Information: This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule , Grade 78, based on education and experience.
