Flexible employees have work schedules that depend on the needs of the activity. You may work a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 40 hours per week. VideosHelp Duties Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, main pools, pool decks, etc. Ensures the safe operation of the pool, filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water test. Performs lifeguarding duties and limited management functions. Responsible for teaching aquatic swimming and water survival training according to TC 21-21. Individual must have or receive this certification prior to or within the first 30 days of employment. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI), State Criminal History Repository Check(SCHRC), and Installation Records Check (IRC). Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
