Job Description:

Description Activities Assistant - LTC Activities at Providence Valdez Medical Center Under supervision, provides a total health oriented recreation program in both individual and group settings to include: physical, creative arts, social, orientation, validation, reminiscence, sensory stimulation, living skills, esteem building and intellectual stimulation for residents of LTC and swing bed patients. Adapts groups to the individual needs of residents with varying degrees of physical and mental disabilities. Provides special activities to meet the special needs of the cognitively impaired and the diverse cultural mix of the residents. Under supervision, assesses and sets recreational goals and objectives for residents, evaluates progress or identifies regression, and documents daily attendance. Requires participation in Interdisciplinary Care Conference. Required qualifications:

• Certification as an Activity Assistant with National Certification Council for Activity Professionals required within 2 years of hire Preferred qualifications:
  • 2 years of college
  • 1 year experience as a health care provider in a health care facility

About the Providence Valdez Medical Center Providence Valdez Medical Center is a 21 bed Critical Access Hospital and we employ about 100 people (87 FTE's). Of those 21 beds, 10 are licensed Long Term Care beds and 11 are Acute/Swing Beds. We have four physicians on our active medical staff who practice out of the Valdez Medical Clinic. Our average daily census is three-four inpatients and 20-30 outpatients. Our facility contains an emergency room, labor room, post-partum, nursery, cardiac room, orthopedic, and med/surg rooms. We also have an operating room for emergency surgeries and elective procedures, C-sections, hernias and appendectomies.
