Civil Engineering Drafting
LCG Lantech has a current job opening for a Designer/Technician
skilled in preparing detailed drawings for surveying, civil
engineering, and landscape architecture disciplines primarily with
Autodesk software. Strong emphasis on suitability of existing
knowledge, skills and abilities, speed of execution and high level
of accuracy. This position will require documents suitable for
construction detailing, permit applications, and review by a
variety of government and private agencies. As a small
multi-discipline firm, additional duties will be required and
assigned as necessary.
Technician Primary Duties:
- Knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of land
surveying
- Knowledge of the principles, practices and software used in
drafting (mostly Civil 3D and Revit)
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices and
construction specifications
- Accurately process surveying field data
- Accurately plot existing onsite conditions on base
drawings
- Communicate as intermediary between field surveyors and
professional land surveyor and/or engineer when necessary
- Check for any discrepancies between the field data, historical
data, and the design drawings
- Preparing as-built surveys, topographic surveys, subdivision
plats, and construction staking layouts and points
- Preparing civil grading, drainage, utility and construction
details
- Understanding of legal descriptions and importance of
historical data
- Researching and retrieving mapping source documentation,
including deeds, correspondence, legal documents, construction
plans, GIS data
- Organize drawings and data for future implementation
- Use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook,
teams, etc.
- Proficiently use computer networks, remote logins, and other
software applications such as text editors, etc.
Essential Requirements:
- Available to work in an office environment in Anchorage,
Alaska
- 4 years of drafting experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- 2 years of experience in the surveying or civil design
industry
- Ability to be self-critical and self-assess work product
- Must have skillset to recognize errors and inefficiencies with
drawings
- Must possess a keen attention to detail to create accurate
drawings
- Knowledge of coordinate systems and when these can be used
appropriately in Civil 3D
- Ability to execute multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to meet deadlines and problem solve without
supervision
- Must possess desire and capacity for learning in a professional
environment
- Must be flexible in week-to-week duties and able to work with
multiple supervisors
- Willingness for work in the field when needed
- Out of town work may be required for periods of time
- Overtime work may be required to meet deadlines
- Must possess current driver's license
- Background checks and drug testing may be required on a
project-by-project basis
Additional Qualifications to Increase Consideration:
- Existing residency in Anchorage or neighboring community
(non-local applicants will still be considered)
- Drafting experience with Revit
- Drafting experience in the architectural or structural
engineering disciplines
- Field surveying experience
- Technical writing
- Familiarity with online databases and retrieving information
from online sources
- Creating and implementing design and data standards
- Working with point clouds, aerial, and drone imagery
- Ability to lift thirty pounds without injury
- Travel by foot on different terrain types, including snow, ice,
tundra, etc.
