GCI's Product Analyst is an important member of the product
development team, providing information for the business and market
requirements for a product. Identify customers' product
requirements and ensure that the team/s take account of the
customer perspective throughout the product life cycle. Identify
target markets, research marketing strategies, and follow the
product through its life cycle. Working with a team within the
Product Management group and with multiple departments within the
company; and development of new products; and enhancing existing
products and/or product lines that align with the company's
Essential Duties of Position:
* Research and identify opportunities for developing new
products or making changes to existing products. * Resolve
conflicts so the development team works toward a single common
goal. * Prepare detailed specification for the product development
team * Follow the product launch, product analysis, and monitor of
performance in the marketplace. * Compare actual sales with
forecasts and identify factors; pricing, distribution, promotion,
and competitor's activities that may influence the success or
failure of the product and recommend changes to the marketing
Additional Job Requirements: This is an entry level professional
position within the product management filed. Conduct routine tasks
under close supervision and supports the Product Management
30% Collaborate with multiple departments and teams to research
product strategies, promotional programs and related activities
ensuring products are meeting company goals and expectations.
Develop and coordinate as well as implement new products and
services. Plan and coordinate activities for specific assignments,
collaborating with applicable teams to ensure objectives are
accomplished within designated timeline.
30% Work with supporting departments to include vendors
resolving issues to develop product profiles, competitive analysis,
and product updates ensuring products are functioning within scope
and meeting market trends.
20% Develop and coordinate new idea reviews and recommendations,
concept and design development. Document and present assessment and
evaluation of market, technical, and financial information as well
as recommendations to support business cases' and initiatives.
20% Collaborate with operational and service organizations
documenting requirements and develop and analyze reports monitoring
and pricing strategies. Research competitor products and maintain
competitive comparisons and evaluations regarding financial,
critical aspects, technical issues, and/or customer concerns of
assigned products, services, and projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Basic understanding of telecommunications industry services
such as Mobile, Video, local wireline and long-distance voice
services, Internet, LAN/WAN/data service technologies, IP
applications, and media/content entertainment services. *
Familiarity with operations of a converged telecommunications
services provider and general telephony and cable services. * Basic
knowledge of cost accounting and analysis. * Excellent verbal and
written communications skills as well as the ability to explain and
document technical activities are required. * Must have the ability
to successfully interact and collaborate with colleagues,
customers, operating and technical staff and other internal company
departments at all levels. * Must be able to function autonomously
on assigned projects with minimal direction. * Understanding of
business case development and cost/benefit analysis is required. *
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to
identify key aspects of issues and proactively manage situations to
prevent and/or minimize negative customer and financial impacts are
required. * Experience with spreadsheets/Excel is required.
* Experience in product research, development, and
implementation. * Experience in project and contract management. *
Experience presenting to groups and talking to the public. *
Experience with development of electronic presentation materials
and the ability to handle ad-hoc question and answer sessions. *
Familiarity with billing, provisioning and tracking systems.
Years of Experience required to meet minimum qualifications:
Minimum one year of product
management/development/marketing/support, financial analysis, cost
analysis, accounting, or related experience.
Level of Education required to meet minimum qualifications: High
School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree or
equivalent in Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, or
related field required. Or a combination of relevant education
and/or experience sufficient to perform the duties may be
substituted for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Advanced college-level coursework (junior standing or above) may be
substituted for work experience in this position.
Certifications: Industry standard certifications highly valued
and contribute toward education.
Physical Requirements: Visual acuity necessary to utilize a
computer monitor throughout the course of a normal workday. Ability
to perform sedentary work and perform repetitive keyboarding
activities and operate general office equipment. Physical effort
may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching,
standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping,
talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must have the ability to
communicate orally, both in person and over the telephone.
Working Conditions: Work is performed at company's headquarters
during a normal 40-hour workweek and may require additional hours
to meet project goals or deadlines. Occasional travel for business
and training purposes is required.
The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment
providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to
public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due
to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal
business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. You will be
requested to provide an emergency after hours contact numbers.
Driving Requirements (if applicable): Must possess and maintain
