The Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) is seeking to fill
multiple Full-time Psychiatric Nurse I/II positions with
individuals who can help to drive the vision of (API) which is to
provide an excellent experience for patients, families, community
supports, students and staff with quality treatment and best
practices in mental health care.
This position will:
- Provide skilled nursing care to patients; individualized
patient assessment and care; participates in therapeutic activities
as facilitator, or co-facilitator.
- Administers medications to patients and provides education
including expected outcomes, possible side effects, and any
- Transcribe all orders, recording this information in each
patient's Medication Administration Record (MAR) and chart
regarding patient behavior and responses to medication
- Completes nursing assessments on newly admitted patients,
patients on close observation special status, or patients that may
require emergency seclusion or restraint.

direction to Office Assistant's and Psychiatric Nurse Assistants
I/II/III including work assignments and monitoring those
assignments for both completion and accuracy.

Psychiatric Nurse I:
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in
the State of Alaska.
Psychiatric Nurse II:
Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in
the State of Alaska;
Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Psychiatric
Nurse I with the State of Alaska;
One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse.
Examples of this experience include but are not exclusively limited
to prior service as a Psychiatric Nurse I, Corrections Nurse I, or
Nurse I with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another
