Senior Environmental Scientist Project Manager
The Environmental Scientist Project Manager supports all aspects
of the environmental program for Kuna Engineering and its clients
throughout Alaska with a specific focus on the resource industry.
The position will support clients on their environmental,
regulatory, permitting, contaminated sites, biological, and other
RESPONSIBILITIES: Employee shall provide Kuna, its resource
clients, and other clients environmental management support for
properties throughout Alaska.
The position will provide technical support within a
multi-disciplined team of engineering and environmental
professionals. The Senior scientists will contribute to general
environmental investigations, NEPA documentation and other
environmental sampling and data collection projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management, including scheduling, budgeting.
Contribute to targeted marketing including working on proposals
that are relevant to the environmental field.
Client interaction with emphasis on permitting and environmental
Manage and participate in environmental field work, including
wetlands delineations and archeological work.
Provide regulatory support and coordination with local, state,
and federal environmental agencies as necessary on environmental

environmental compliance programs.
Observe and record field conditions, gathering, interpreting,
and reporting data.
Prepare regulatory or compliance documentation.
Inform individuals and groups on pollution control regulations

Manage junior or other environmental staff.

Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s

Degree in the environmental sciences, geological, natural
resource management, or related field.Masters preferred.
10 years of experience, including project management.
Direct work experience with the resource or mining industry

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually
that of a standard office atmosphere.
Description of environment: Office building with standard office
environment. Will also be on project sites outside.
Physical requirements:Employee is required to occasionally lift
and/or move up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk,
use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or
crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.
Travel: Employee will travel to remote areas and may be required
to use alternative modes of transportation, including but not
limited to snow machines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.
Travel may require an employee or contractor to pass a TSA
security checkpoint. If the employee or contractor does not have
valid identification, they will not be able to travel until valid
identification is obtained and verified. For this reason all
employees and contractors must have valid identification when
traveling to and from the work site destination, for a list of TSA
