Job Description:

The Human Resource Director working closely with the Vice President of Human Resources and will be planning, developing, implementing and evaluating ongoing HR policies, programs, functions and activities, with emphasis on compensation, recruitment and employee relations.. ESSENTIAL DUTIES. Plan, direct and supervise all activities relating to the administration of employee relations, recruitment, and compensation programs. Develop, implement and control programs in a manner that ensures fair and equitable treatment of employees and applicants.. Administers recruitment and selection, on-boarding, promotions, transfers, retention, affirmative action/EEO compliance, compensation and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization.. Supervises the company’s drug and alcohol program ensuring compliance with FMCSA and company policy.. Supervises the administration and maintenance of the company’s compensation program.. Develop, prepare, generate and analyze ongoing and ad-hoc special reports pertaining to employee information, including issues such as staffing levels, turnover, recruitment, applicant tracking, affirmative action/EEO, promotions, etc. Effectively utilize HRIS systems to obtain, store and analyze pertinent data and information.. Maintain and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resource management. Identify trends that could affect organizational objectives and/or operational resources. Interpret appropriate laws and policies and advise management and employees accordingly.. Supervises assigned Human Resources employees providing coaching, mentoring and performance management.. Lead and encourage professional development of HR staff.. Promote continuous improvement of HR operations and processes.. Provides advice and consultation to the company’s supervisors, managers, and leadership team as it pertains to human resource management.. Performs other work related duties as assigned.. QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications). Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent experience.. Ten years of progressively responsible experience in human resources.. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) current certification preferred.. Multi-state and Canadian (Alberta) employment law experience desired.. Previous compensation experience preferred.. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.. Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning human resource management.. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS software.. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES. Communication: Express ideas in a clear, concise and convincing manner. Plan for succession and provide opportunities for professional growth.. WORKING ENVIRONMENT. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other office related devices.
