Job Description:
The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), Campus Services
division is recruiting for experienced Custodial Staff to provide
custodial support to the Housing complex. On occasion, this
position will need to assist with custodial support during and
after large events such as athletic tournaments, concerts and trade
shows at the Alaska Airlines Center. Due to the various times
events may be scheduled, an applicant should be willing and able to
have a flexible work schedule, including working weekends and
mandatory overtime. The successful applicant for this position
should be self-motivated and self-directed demonstrating a
high-level of skill and/or experience in commercial custodial
services and in general building upkeep. A variety of the tasks
performed by this position are performed independently with limited
supervision. The work to be completed is broad in scope and varies
depending on many different factors. The duties will include
cleaning rooms and carpet cleaning in the residential housing
complex. The successful candidate will have extensive commercial
custodial knowledge and experience, experience with commercial
janitorial motorized machines such as floor scrubbers, buffers and
carpet cleaning machines to include high pressure and truck mounted
extractors. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills,
with a strong aptitude for problem-solving. Proficient at
multitasking and transitioning seamlessly between tasks, with the
capability to work both independently and collaboratively in team
environments. Skilled in operating tools and using cleaning
chemicals following safe work practices. Proficient in maintaining
repair records, ordering parts, and managing inventories. Capable
of ordering, transporting, and stocking supplies efficiently.
Experienced in safe working practices related to bloodborne
pathogens and other biohazards. Adept at reading and interpreting
manuals and technical instructions to calculate proportions,
percentages, area, and volume for accurate chemical use and
application. Flexible with the ability to work variable shifts,
overtime, and at different locations. Capable of assuming Lead
responsibilities, including scheduling, assigning, and directing
work, as well as reviewing completed tasks to ensure successful
outcomes. Committed to a positive and supportive campus environment

within and leading diverse teams toward shared goals, establishing
oneself as a key team contributor. *Six years of demonstrated work
history within commercial custodial, commercial janitorial or
commercial housekeeper sectors. Extensive knowledge of general
custodial, janitorial or housekeeping practices and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated work experience in commercial
custodial settings that are progressive in nature will be
considered. An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean
driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is
required. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Position
Details: This position is located on the University of Alaska
campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt
staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full
