Job Description:
Information Technology Services (ITS) has put together a program
to give Student workers an opportunity to experience real-life IT
Service Center scenarios. This program will give students the
knowledge and experience of working in an IT Call Center. Upon
completion, students will be able to market themselves in this IT
area, as they will learn both technical and customer services
skills and have many different experiences to share with a future
employer. If you are looking for a part-time job that will provide

Information Technology, then this program is for you! This program
will give students the knowledge and experience of working in an IT
Call Center or Computer Lab. ITS is looking for applicants who are
excited to learn new technologies in the areas of computer
consulting, desktop/laptop and audio/visual support and call center
assistance. Applicants must have experience using software such as
Windows 10/11, MS Office 2019 and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Access), and internet applications such as web
browsers, Telnet/SSH, email and FTP. Familiarity with Computer and
A/V Hardware and various cabling for computers and displays is
desired. Experience troubleshooting technical problems, analyzing
situations, and solving problems is required. Applicants must
possess excellent communication, public relations, and customer
service skills to include a strong command of the English language,
both written and verbal with the ability to work in a diverse
environment of students, faculty, and staff. Ability to interpret
customer requests for assistance and provide appropriate solutions
and instruction. Excellent teamwork skills are essential.
Applicants must provide appropriate solutions and instruction and
must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must have
the ability to lift, maneuver and transport departmental equipment,
restock printers and transport paper and supplies to another site.
To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must: a. Be
enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six
credit hours in the current semester of employment? or b. Have been
enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and
demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the
next semester for employment between semesters? and c. Have at
least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from
the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee. d.
Students enrolled in nontraditional programs of study will be
considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the
Senior Student Services officer. e. An applicant must provide
evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment
eligibility. Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications that are
preferred, but not required: Experience working in a computer lab,
hardware/software department/company or a technology customer
service organization. Experience with Mac OS X? basic programming
knowledge of C, C++, PHP, Perl, Java, etc? MiniTAB, SPSS and/or
AutoCAD. Experience troubleshooting, configuring and connecting A/V
equipment a plus. Position Details: This is a part-time position up
to 20 hours per week while school is in session. Additional hours
may be available during the summer and winter breaks. Starting
hourly rate is $15.26/hr. Special Instructions to Applicants:
