Full-Time (40 hours/week) Position Summary: McKinley Care Assisted
Living Home is seeking a dedicated and organized Kitchen Manager to
oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, food preparation, and
dining services. The Kitchen Manager plays a vital role in ensuring
residents receive nutritious, high-quality meals in a safe and
clean environment. Key Responsibilities: Meal Service & Planning
Cook and oversee the preparation of three meals per day and two
snacks per day for residents. Collect weekly resident meal tickets
and ensure dietary needs and restrictions are followed. Complete
dietary plans for all new admissions in coordination with care
staff. Review and rotate menus for variety, nutrition, and resident
satisfaction. Complete a Plan of Action form for any food-related
complaints and follow up accordingly. Resident Lunch Buffets on
Wednesday and Saturday Staff Management Recruit, interview, and
hire qualified kitchen staff, including cooks and aides. Create and
maintain weekly schedules to ensure consistent kitchen coverage.
Conduct kitchen employee performance evaluations and provide
regular feedback. Ensure all kitchen staff maintain up-to-date Food
Handler Safety credentials, CPR/First Aid certification, and TB
test results. Train and onboard new staff in accordance with
McKinley Care standards. Inventory & Supply Management Monitor and
manage inventory of food, cleaning supplies, and dining equipment.
Place orders as needed to ensure the kitchen remains fully stocked
while minimizing waste. Conduct regular inventory checks and rotate
stock. Sanitation & Compliance Ensure cleanliness of the kitchen,
dining area, and food storage areas. Enforce strict adherence to
food safety regulations and PPE requirements. Maintain proper
records of sanitation procedures, temperature logs, and training
certifications. Communication & Coordination Coordinate with care
staff regarding special dietary needs, allergies, and preferences.
Report kitchen-related issues to the Operations Manager in a timely
manner. Actively participate in quality assurance and staff
meetings. Work Schedule & Expectations Hours: 40 hours per week.
Timekeeping: Must clock in and clock out daily using the designated
system. Availability to adjust schedule as needed to support
kitchen operations, including weekends or holidays when required.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; culinary or
hospitality certification preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience
in a kitchen management or supervisory role. Strong leadership,
communication, and organizational skills. Familiarity with elder
care dietary needs and food safety standards. Ability to manage
multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to
pass the State of Alaska Department of Health and Human Services
(DHHS) background check criteria. Must be able to comply with the
State of Alaska DHHS annual tuberculosis (TB) testing requirements.
