The NEW Aloft Hotel Anchorage, managed by JL Hospitality Management, is looking for talented -Servers to open Anchorage's newest hotel and the W XYZ Bar! The Aloft Anchorage is going to be unlike anything the hotel industry in Alaska has ever seen before with its modern, open public spaces, live music-oriented W XYZ bar, unique guest rooms and high-tech meeting space. The W XYZ Bar and Re:Mix Lounge will not be your typical hotel bar; this is Anchorage's newest midtown venue! Hosting live music, trivia nights, beer yoga, yappy hour, outdoor lounge and much more, W XYZ is going to be a crowd favorite for locals and hotel patrons alike. We are looking for someone with previous -serving experience, who has a modern and energetic take on the food and beverage industry, looking to build a career with an amazing team and will help bring this unique hotel to success!

Position Purpose:
Service of food and/or beverage to include the order-taking and delivery of any food and /or beverage items.
This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner resulting in a very
high level of guest satisfaction.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Check station before, during and after shifts for proper set-up and cleanliness. Clear and clean tables as they become available; wash utensils, china, etc.; clean up spills; remove trash; replenish guest tables and self-service stations as needed

Clean work areas and floors (sweep, mop or vacuum) for appearance and safety

Greet the guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any specials and/or restaurant promotions for guest awareness. Record the details of the order form the guests, repeating the order to the guest to check for accuracy. Market and serve upon request any liquor items or specialty coffees.

Input the order into the system to inform kitchen of the particulars in the order being placed.

When completed, retrieve order from kitchen, confirm its accuracy, lift and deliver to guest along with appropriate condiments. Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.

Check with guests for overall satisfaction. Ascertain guest satisfaction and present check. Process check per restaurant procedures

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a
combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each
function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the
company.

--- Perform any general cleaning tasks using standard restaurant cleaning products as
assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards.
--- Ability to maintain perspective and composure in demanding business situations such as
an irate guest, rush of business or being short-staffed.
--- Ability to divide attention among several tasks going on at one time.
--- Ability to work cooperatively with others to achieve group work goals.
--- Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and
positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating
empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
--- Communicates with food and beverage staff to ensure guest satisfaction.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain
and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without
reasonable accommodation.

o Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various
alcoholic beverages.
o Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest
checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion
sizes.
o Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance
sheets and vouchers.
o Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up
glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
o Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with
guests and take orders.
o Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
o Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close
out a check.
o Ability to work stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
o Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive
manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with
the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
