community we serve. POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides dental
care to patients of Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center; promotes
positive patient relations and participates in quality
assurance/improvement activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinical Care Within the scope of licensure,
provides dental care for patients of the clinic: Acts as Dental
Care Provider for patients Meets productivity and clinical
measure/standards of the clinic Conducts dental examinations,
diagnose dental conditions, and develops treatment plans. Diagnoses
and treats acute and chronic dental problems. Provides chronic
disease management. Provides preventive dental care and dental
hygiene practices and education. Provides referral assistance to
specialty dental services when necessary. Understands and follows
infection control policies and procedures. Accurately charts
treatment to be completed and/or completed treatment. Makes
accurate chart notes in Dentrix including the next visit and time
needed for treatment. Collaborates with dental assistants,
hygienist, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient
patient care. Supervision and Consultation Provides clinical
supervision for Dental Assistants and other health professionals
requiring formal dental oversight under Alaska State law. Provides
clinical consultation for ANHC medical and other dental providers
as requested. Quality Assurance Participates in ongoing
identification of performance and process quality improvement
opportunities of the department and implementation of actions to
achieve improvements. Assists in implementation of specific quality
assurance monitoring procedures (i.e., chart audits, record audits,
equipment calibration checks, etc.). Sees that results are properly
logged, communicates results to appropriate parties, and promotes
corrective action as needed. Assures protection of individual
rights to privacy and confidentiality at all times. Knows and
functions in accordance with organizational and departmental
policies and procedures. Maintains a functional work environment
that is clean, orderly, and pleasant and maintains a professional
setting at all times for optimal care to patients. Understands and
maintains patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Patient
Relations Strives to keep patients fully informed on all aspects of
clinical program operations about which patients may have normal
curiosities, a right to know, or benefits gained from knowing (e.g.
qualifications of staff, procedures for getting prescriptions
filled/refilled, what to do in an emergency, etc.) Team Management
Assists the Chief Dental Officer and/or Dental Office Manager in
the planning and evaluation of effective clinic operations.
Maintains a collaborative working relationship. Participates in the
team management process of the Dental Team by attending meetings as
an equal and interested member. Assists in the development of
dental policies and assists Chief Dental Officer in their
implementation. Attends site meetings and general staff meetings.
Works cooperatively to meet established objectives. Works with
other ANHC Staff Dentists to maintain consistent dental services.
SUPPORTING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in welcoming
and educating dental assisting students, dental hygiene students,
and dental students as requested. Participates in dental outreach
programs. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. WHY JOIN

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Work Experience: Two
years post-graduate practice experience. Education, Certification
and Licensure: Graduation from an accredited dental school and
licensure by the State of Alaska to practice dentistry. Must have
and maintain current BLS certification. Additional Skills &
Knowledge: Bilingual preferred but not required. PHYSICAL, SENSORY,
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATIONS: The work environment characteristics

frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger,
handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk or hear.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work is performed in a
