RN - Forensic Nurse Examiner at Providence Health and Services
summary: The Forensic Nurse Examiner provides comprehensive
medical-forensic examinations to patients affected by interpersonal
violence, including sexual assault and domestic violence. This role
involves collaboration with law enforcement and advocacy groups to
deliver patient-centered, trauma-informed care while adhering to
nursing standards and regulatory requirements. The position
requires specialized certification in forensic nursing and offers
full-time and part-time night shifts with competitive compensation
and benefits. Description The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) is
responsible for providing the comprehensive medical-forensic
examination adult and adolescent patients reporting a history of
interpersonal violence, such as sexual assault or domestic
violence, including victims and suspects. FNE is accountable for
the delivery of quality nursing care to this population according
to the individualized needs of the patient by utilizing the nursing
process, approved scope and standards, and in accordance with the
Alaska Nurse Practice Act. FNE must be competent to assess and
analyze patient information and history with an understanding of
the cognitive, physical, cultural, emotional/psychosocial,
spiritual, and chronological maturation process. FNE must function
within an environment of crisis involving sensitive issues, often
in conjunction with physical trauma, psychological trauma, and
substance use. Accepts and promotes professional development as an
integral part of evidence based nursing practice. FNE is
responsible to work in collaboration with law enforcement and
advocacy agencies to provide quality services to all clients who
present for care. FNE develops and maintains good working
relationships with team members to ensure the team response is

Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Alaska Registered
Nurse License upon hire. National Provider BLS - American Heart
Association upon hire. 1 year Nursing experience. Preferred
Qualifications: Current certification of completion of 40-hour
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) upon hire. 16-hour SANE
