Job Description:
Providence Alaska Medical Center has an opportunity available
for full-time Behavioral Health Psychiatrist Medical Director to
join its well-established psychiatric inpatient team in Anchorage,
Alaska The role is split evenly between clinical and medical
director duties. As such, this is a key leadership role responsible
for overseeing medical services to ensure high-quality patient care
and regulatory compliance. This role also involves collaboration
with hospital administration and community programs to support
strategic and operational goals. This is an opportunity to be part

the beautiful state of Alaska. Core Competencies: Oversee and
assist in the delivery and quality of medical services providing
supervision and evaluating the provisions of medical services,
ensuring adherence to the highest standards of patient care in
compliance with the bylaws, rules, and regulations of the Medical
Staff. Complete and maintain accurate records, forms, and reports
as required by the Hospital and the Medical Staff. Represent the
medical department in hospital committees and attend medical
conferences or CME sessions as mandated, with costs covered by the
administration. Develop, implement, and provide consultation for
departmental policies, clinical protocols, and ensure compliance
with medical staff bylaws, accreditation standards, and legal
regulations. Provide strategic guidance and facilitate
communication among the Department, Medical Staff, Hospital
Administration and other relevant Hospital departments on the
departments development, management, financial planning, and
quality assurance programs. Foster a culture of excellence in
education by managing and accessing educational programs for
physicians and professional staff and providing supervision and
evaluating the teaching of physicians and non-physician
professionals within the Departments. Ensure timely and accurate
completion of all departmental service records as required by
regulatory bodies. Maintain a cooperative and collaborative working
relationship with peers, staff, and Community Based Programs
Administration to promote a seamless healthcare delivery
experience. Clinical & Director Responsibilities: 0.5 FTE dedicated
to Medical Director duties, and 0.5 FTE dedicated towards inpatient
clinical duties Supervise and evaluate the delivery of medical
services within the behavioral health line, ensuring high standards
of care. Support the efficient operation of the facility, following
any department-specific directives. Offer guidance on the
development, management, and financial planning of the department
to PMAC and Community Based Programs Administration. Ensure
operations adhere to Medical Staff Bylaws, Providence directives,
Joint Commission standards, relevant professional societies
standards, and all pertinent laws and regulations, while upholding
the mission and values of Providence Health & Services and the
Roman Catholic moral tradition. Work as a core member of a
multi-disciplinary and collaborative team that includes therapists,
psychologists, primary care providers, nurses, dedicated case
management staff, pharmacists and substance abuse specialists.
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, interview patients, review medical
histories, and assess mental status to determine diagnoses. Develop
treatment plans and individualized care plans based on psychiatric
assessments, often involving medication, therapy, and safety
protocols. Compensation & Benefits: Highly competitive salary and

Qualifications & Requirements: Medical degree from an accredited
institution and a valid medical license Board certification in a
recognized specialty and experience in a medical leadership role
Licensure as a physician in the State of Alaska with a Federal DEA
number 2 to 5 years of clinical experience is required Strong
Leadership skills with a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary
teams Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal
skills Must have proficient writing and grammar skills The
