Sonographer - Vascular Technologist Registered - Ultrasound at Providence Alaska Medical Center



Performs all the essential functions of the Registered Sonographer. Performs and evaluates sonographic examinations and physiologic vascular testing. Obtains clinical history and performs a physical assessment of the patient's condition to determine appropriate testing protocol. Provides a technical interpretation of sonographic and physiologic data to aid physicians in rendering a medical diagnosis. Requires credentials from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in a minimum of three specialties including vascular technology. New grads may be allowed to acquire some specialties after hire.



Required qualifications:





  • Completion of an ultrasound program (minimum 1 year in length)

  • Associate Degree in a related health care field or credentials with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

  • Recent graduates from an AMA accredited program must be able to obtain Abdomen or OB-GYN, and Vascular registries within 12 months of date of hire.

  • Registry credentials with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Abdomen, OB-GYN, and Vascular registries within 12 months

  • Physically able to transport equipment and patients to and from the bedside





    Preferred qualifications:





    • Membership in a professional organization such as the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, Society of Vascular Technologists, or the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine encouraged

    • Two (2) years of recent full-time paid experience in abdomen, OB/GYN, and vascular technology.

    • Recent experience in Neurosonography.
