Description Registered Nurse (RN) Forensic Nurse Examiner -
Forensic Nursing Svcs Of Prov at Providence Alaska Medical Center

candidates The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) is responsible for
providing the comprehensive medical-forensic examination adult and
adolescent patients reporting a history of interpersonal violence,
such as sexual assault or domestic violence, including victims and
suspects. FNE is accountable for the delivery of quality nursing
care to this population according to the individualized needs of
the patient by utilizing the nursing process, approved scope and
standards, and in accordance with the Alaska Nurse Practice Act.
FNE must be competent to assess and analyze patient information and
history with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, cultural,
emotional/psychosocial, spiritual, and chronological maturation
process. Required qualifications:
- Nursing degree/diploma upon hire
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or higher within three (3) years
of hire
- An RN with twenty (20) years of RN experience will not be
required to obtain a BSN
- Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis at each
facility by the most senior administrative nursing leader in
consultation with the Human Resources leader
- RNs employed prior to 1/1/17 are encouraged to obtain a
Bachelor's degree or higher degree in Nursing, but obtaining the
degree will not be a condition of employment
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
- Competency Training: Basic Life Support (BLS)
- One (1) year of Registered Nurse experience Preferred

- Bachelor's degree in Nursing upon hire
- Current certification of completion of 40 hours Sexual Assault
Nurse Examiner (SANE) training
- 16 hours SANE Clinical Skills Lab
