Description Clinician Social Services MSW Oncology - Oncology
Support Services at Providence Alaska Medical Center Maintains a
case load of oncology patients which includes identification,
assessment and intervention of patient / family needs including
coordination of cancer support resources, referral to appropriate
resources and emotional supportive counseling to patients and their
families receiving their care at the Cancer Center. Facilitates
educational classes, support groups, and other survivorship
projects. In addition, participates as a social work practicum
instructor for interns. Required qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited School of
Social Work
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the State of Alaska
within 6 months of hire. A temporary license will be accepted on
hire
- Oncology Social Work Certification with in three years of hire
Preferred qualifications:
- Two (2) years post-graduate experience in providing services to
clients who have chronic and acute illness in a health care
setting, preferably oncology; or graduated social work interns who
have completed their practicums with Providence
- Support group leadership experience
- Hospice or home-health experience desirable to maximize
psychosocial intervention in assisting patients with issues of
disability, separation, loss and dying
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of
Alaska
