JOB TITLE: Clinical Nursing Manager


GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: An exempt management position responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all clinical operations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Clinical Services Director

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: All clinical operations staff. Will provide supervision for other departments and areas as organizational needs dictate.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching. Frequent standing and working for extended periods of time. Periodic need to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to ensuring accuracy and safety of operation.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Combination of clinic and office setting. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, and other conditions common in clinical environment.

Oversees the daily clinical operations of the department.
Manages activities of assigned staff. Manages workload and scheduling. Responds to grievances of patients as well as employee-related issues. Handles performance management issues and participates in hiring.
Ensures maintenance on equipment is current. Oversees quality assurance procedures. Ensures adequate safety and compliance with standard operating procedures. Requests new equipment as needed and develops new procedures.
Ensure compliance of Clinic Services with safety/OSHA, accreditation, and other regulatory requirements. Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures to ensure such compliance and for the orderly functioning of Clinic Services.
Measures and monitors key performance areas of the Clinic. Recommends ways to promote continuous quality improvement, customer service, and employee satisfaction.
Keep current with education and knowledge requirements to enhance job performance. Assure proper and timely completion of education/training/orientation requirements of assigned staff.
Manage the budget for Clinic Services. Work to reduce cost, enhance revenues, and achieve effective utilization of Clinic Services.
Comply with all AHVI policy and procedures, including the confidentiality of patients' records and information so that patients' right or quality of care is not compromised.
Establishes a human resources plan including need for numbers and types of clinical staff. Works with human resources to recruit, select, orient, and train new staff.
Makes sure the performance and productivity of all clinical staff are evaluated on a regular basis throughout the year and annually. Advises on appropriate corrective actions and development opportunities.
Maintains high quality of care by clinical staff through continuous improvement of standards and protocols. Ensures all staff are trained in quality assurance/control requirements and meets these standards.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of principles, practices, trends and technological developments in the area of the Clinic.
Knowledge of clinical practices, procedures and techniques in the area of the Clinic.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, accreditation standards and safety guidelines, related to Clinic Services.
Knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring.
Knowledge of imaging methods and image/film management.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with the Clinic.
Skill in organizing, directing, coordinating and evaluating the Clinic to ensure quality patient diagnosis and care that conforms to prescribed standards and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively with administrative, medical, professional and clinical staff.
Ability to work tactfully, sympathetically and effectively with various types and conditions of patients.
Ability to recognize and resolve hazardous conditions. Able to deal calmly with emergency situations.
Demonstrate ability to multi-task; perform tasks within time frames assigned.
Demonstrate schedule flexibility; adjust to shifting priorities; stay organized in a changing environment; stay focused during stressful or difficult situations; exhibit comfort with ambiguity.

Preferred: BSN, or MSN.
Minimum: Associate degree in nursing.

Experience: Five years of supervisory experience with progressively increasing management/operations experience in healthcare.

Certificate/License: Current state RN license. Current CPR certification.
