    A Neonatal Registered Nurse(RN) who renders individualized comprehensive nursing care to meet Neonatalpatients physical, psychological, spiritual, social, cultural and educationalneeds. The Neonatal RN provides the bestpossible preventative, supportive, and rehabilitative nursing care to meet theneeds of Neonatal patients and family basedupon the nursing process and in accordance with hospital policy and procedure; coordinat es functions with physicians and other departmentsof the hospital in a spirit that fosters positive working relationships.
    LICENSEREQUIRED: Registered Nurse State ofAlaska

    Corecompetencies will be assessed primarily on the following patientpopulation(s) served:
    The Neonatal patient population may include care of the neonate , babies
    for routine care, babies exhibiting withdrawal from mothers with addiction,
    Respiratory illnesses,hyperbiliuremia.
    All Populations
    q Patient with CommunicationNeeds
    q Patient at the End of Life
    q Patient in Isolation
    q Precautions
    q Patient in Custody

    Performs age specific neonateassessments
    Assesses age specific safetyissues for neonates
    Performsvenipuncture properly for neonate
    Provides supportive communicationand interaction with infant s families.
    Infant (Newborn -1 year)
    q Child/Pediatric (1-12 years)
    q Adolescence (13-18 yrs)
    q Adult (19-65yrs)
    q Geriatric (66+ yrs)


    q Less than high school
    q High school or GED
    q Vocational/Technical
    2 year/Associate Degree
    q 4 year/Bachelor Degree
    q Post Graduate Degree
    Knowledge ofState of Alaska law, Nurse Practice Act, Federal/CMS regulations and Joint Commission standards
    Knowledge of specialty equipment and tools:


    2 years experience acute carework history preferred.
