Job Description:

Duties--- Directs, plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Force Support Squadron (FSS).--- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.--- Makes comprehensive assessments and evaluations of program goals/objectives which provide a basis for long-range planning to enhance the management support capabilities of the FSS.--- Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation organizations and outside agenciesRequirements Conditions of Employment--- U.SCitizenship Required--- Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov--- The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance--- TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL BE PAID in accordance with the JTR AND AFMAN 36-606--- This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program--- Disclosure of Political Appointments--- All federal employees are required to have direct deposit--- Eligible for a Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) which is subject to change without notice--- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft--- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hoursand/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours--- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions--- The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or--- Contoffice to function effectivelyThis position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve(IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,")--- This is a Supervisory position and may be subjected to a probationary period--- This is a CENTRALLY MANAGED position--- This is a Key Position IA W DoD Directive 1200.7This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management PositionsSPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systemsExamples of specialized experience include: providing management oversight for day-to-day activities of a Force Support Squadron comprised of five flights (NAF HR, Marketing, Resource Management, Community Services and Child and Youth Center)Serving as a strategic advisor to other commanders on issues involved with military and civilian personnel, manpower, and services available to installation personnelDirecting short and long range programs, to include business based programs, addressing a broad range of Air Force community needs and interestsManaging the Force Development program and identifying and providing training and opportunities for growthProviding complex administrative and technical services that directly affect a large or complex, multi mission military installationFEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligibleOne year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 levelTIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeksNOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirementsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1Knowledge of a wide range of manpower concepts, principles, operations, laws, regulations, programs, and practices;
