This position provides field or regional oversight, coordination, and supervision of personnel involved in providing a client's security and property protection activities. This position is responsible for developing and delivering security training programs with associated records management.

In addition to the Security Manager job responsibilities, this position with have a strong emphasis on creating, implementing and ensuring compliance with training programs related to contract requirements, regulatory agencies and the employer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary focus is roving from contract to contract to fill staffing voids and help address staffing issues.

Develops training modules as needed for security staff.

Organizes and/or presents training to security staff using various technologies.

Ensures training meets requirements for various jurisdictions and ensures training records are available for inspection.

Supervises operational procedures and activities for a client's security services.

Assigns personnel to various posts or patrols. Interprets security rules and procedures.

Directs activities during major fires, storms, emergencies, etc.

Receives and appropriately resolves irregularity reports.

Periodically inspects client's premises or facilities to determine or update security needs/services.

Continually communicates with clients to assist them as required with security matters and improve services.

Continually communicates with all levels of staff to review operating procedures, budget matters, etc. so as to be able to improve assigned operations.

Administrates a variety of business related paperwork.

Performs a variety of security related investigations.

Supervises the patrolling of buildings and grounds of a campus or work site.

Review recorded data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, incident reports, etc. to determine appropriate courses of action.

Confers with various agencies to gain their cooperation and coordination.

May perform all of the duties of assigned staff for short periods of time.

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages subordinate supervisors who in turn supervise many other security personnel. May be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of a unit and directly supervises non-supervisory employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED

Two years' post-secondary
education (candidates without such education need an additional two years of
related experience)

Must have at least ten (10)
years law enforcement experience in the last twenty (20) years that included
significant supervisory responsibilities.

Must have completed a
recognized instructor development course.

At least three (3) years'
experience providing training to law enforcement or security personnel.

Completion of Methods of
Instruction (MOI) course or similar program.

Must have the ability to
manage training and licensing records.

Must be able to manage
training compliance procedures and ensure officers are in compliance with
contract requirements.

Must have the ability to
produce training calendars to meet the needs of clients, regulatory agencies
and the employer.

Good physical condition
physically capable of standing and walking for at least an 8-hour period

Qualify for an Alaska Armed
Guard license

Must be able to obtain a
Concealed Carry Weapons permit from the State of Alaska.

Good written, oral
communications and human relations skills

Must be fluent, written and
oral, in the English language

Must have a telephone and
reliable transportation

Must be 21 years of age, as
pre contract requirements.

Must be able to qualify for
an Airport SIDA badge

Must be able to clear
pre-employment drug screen, background check, and post-offer physical

The ability to work rotating
shifts, weekends, callouts, etc.

A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record for the
past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.


Instructing experience in reporting writing, patrol procedures,
Managing of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) programs, laws of arrest, use of force,
use of Tasers and use of firearms.
