Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic leader to manage the functions of our
busy dialysis unit in Anchorage, Alaska. The primary
responsibilities of this critical position are: Oversees all
aspects of direct patient care, including, but not limited to: new
patient admissions; patient transfers and discharges; nursing
assessments (both initial and pre/post each treatment); initiation,
monitoring and terminating dialysis. Plan, schedule, and organize
work for efficient use of personnel and facilities. Direct the care
and maintenance of the unit. Coordinate the activities of the
nursing staff and ensure the physician orders are carried
out.Ensure the care plans are fulfilled and that unit charting and
documentation is complete and accurate.Maintain required clinic
records, reports and statistics for administrative purposes: ensure
compliance with established policies, procedures, objectives, CQI,
Risk management, and infection control.Maintain liaison with
Physicians, Clinic Administrators and ancillary services, other
healthcare providers, and personnel to analyze unit needs. Manage
fiscal requirements of clinic and prepare budgetary
recommendations.Manage various personnel actions including, but not
limited to, hiring, performance appraisal, disciplinary actions,
transfers, promotions, and scheduled time off.Embraces the
principals of CQI; assumes that care can always be improved and
actively seeks new opportunities to ensure patients receive the
highest standard of care.Ensures clinic is compliant with CMS,
State, Local regulatory requirements Ensures patient
safety.Immediately address adverse events and seeks to create a
clinical environment to minimize such events.Ensures patients are
educated so they can be an active participant in their own
care.Ensures compliance to all clinical policies and procedures
including, but not limited to, infection control and appropriate
use of the personal protective equipment (PPE). Provides oversight
of the Interdisciplinary team: (nurses, dialysis technicians,
Social Workers, Dietitians, Physicians) ; ensures effective
development of plans of action to minimize missed treatments and
hospitalizationsProvides oversight of audits conducted to evaluate
staff compliance; actively identifies areas in need of
improvement.Ensures that supplies are used appropriately and cost
effectively. Will participate in analyses and, when necessary, will
initiate appropriate action plans to improve the financial
performance of the clinic.Assumes primary responsibility in the
event of an emergency situation. EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (RN) strongly preferred
with current state licensure. Have at least 12 months of experience
in providing nursing care to patients on dialysis Current American
Heart Association BLS certification or ability to obtain within
orientation period Meet necessary requirements of Ishihara's color
deficiency test EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS Three years'
dialysis experience required.Employee management experience
required. Demonstrated leadership competencies and management
skills for the position, including excellent communication,
customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship
development, results orientated team building skills, motivating
employees, performance management and decision making. Demonstrated
management skills necessary to provide leadership in the
supervision of facility personnel and to ensure the delivery of
maximum quality care to all patients. Ability to promote change in
a positive and supportive manner Ability to understand and
implement government standards. Proficiency with the Microsoft
office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - experience with medical
database software preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING
CONDITIONS The physical demands and work environment
characteristics described here are representative of those an
employee encounters while performing the essential functions of

Day to day work includes desk and personal computer work and
interaction with patients, regional and facility/program employees,
and physicians. The work environment is characteristic of a health
care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise
levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious
diseases/materials. This position requires frequent, prolonged
periods of standing and the employee must be able to bend over. The
employee may occasionally be required to move, with assistance,
machines, and equipment of up to 200 lbs., and may lift chemical
and water solutions of up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet. PI
