Save Skills - Driver's License - Clerical Experience - Microsoft Office - Computer Skills - Administrative Experience This position is open to Alaska Residents only The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water is seeking a highly motivated Natural Resource Technician II to fill a position assigned to the Leasing Unit of the Southcentral Land Regional Office located in the Atwood Building, Anchorage, Alaska. As a member of the Leasing Unit (PCN 10-1746) the position directly assists with the processing and tracking of applications for uses of State owned land for activities including, but not limited to material sales, aquatic farming, shore fish leasing and general leasing. This position will assist staff with various processes, including application receipt, assignments, relinquishments, data entry, and archiving. The position requires a high level of public interaction responding to inquiries or discussing proposed/ongoing activities. This position is very detail oriented and will require a clear understanding of the applicable laws, regulations and policies to provide accurate information to the public and to authorize project development or legal use of state land. The position requires use of office equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, and fax machines. Willingness to travel by highway vehicle, off road vehicle, boat, raft, single engine planes, etc. will be necessary to conduct field inspections. Our ideal candidate will possess some or all of the following knowledge, skills, abilities and experience. If you do not have any experience with one of the items listed below, simply say so: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills including proficiency in technical writing, grammar and editing; Ability to work independently, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment under general supervision; Ability to adopt to changing priorities, successfully manage multiple tasks, identify and analyze problems, source and research information, recommend appropriate actions, and achieve deadlines; Experience with standard computers and business software including Microsoft Office Suite; Experience establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with diverse groups of people including parties with competing interests; and Ability to conduct field inspections to remote areas and write detailed inspection reports. NOTE: A current driver's license is a requirement for the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Six months of experience at the entry level performing technical functions of natural resource management equivalent to a Natural Resource Technician I, Forest Technician III or Environmental Technician I with the State of Alaska. OR Six months of clerical work experience equivalent to an Administrative Clerk III or Recorder I with the State of Alaska. OR 16 semester hours or 24 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution. OR Any combination of the above where 3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours is equivalent to one month of experience. WORK EXPERIENCE If using work experience not already documented in your application, also provide the employer name, your job title, dates of employment, and whether full-or part-time.
