Job Description:
Job Objective: Coordinates a variety of environmental and
regulatory activities in the field including spill response and
cleanup, land use permits, air, water, waste and wildlife
compliance. Facilitates relationships with Drilling, Operations and
Projects staff in the field. Helps develop and promote
environmental management systems, policies, procedures, and
programs. Promotes Environmental Stewardship throughout the
company. Essential Job Responsibilities: The Field Environmental
Specialist is responsible for providing direct environmental
support to operations, drilling and projects. This is a Kenai-based
position. The role focuses on providing support and training to
operations, functional groups, third parties and projects for waste
management, air and water permit compliance, land use requirements,
spill prevention, clean-up and reporting, and wildlife management.
The Field Environmental Specialist works closely with field
personnel to assure they understand their compliance obligations
and requirements for environmentally sound operations. The
specialist interfaces frequently with field teams through training,
compliance briefings, site visits and meetings. In addition, the
Field Environmental Specialist conducts formal and informal
assessments and inspections, participate in investigations and
conduct inspections of field, facilities, and project work in
progress. This role helps to identify and support various
continuous improvement objectives around environmental management
and compliance challenges. This role includes liaison and
supporting regulatory agencies on compliance matters and
accompanying agency personnel during inspections. The Field
Environmental Specialist frequently interacts with Anchorage-based
personnel for regulatory interpretations, analysis, and permitting
support. Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited
to: Report to the Environmental Field Team Manager Interface
directly with the Anchorage-based Environmental Team. Provide
operational control development, review and verification; task
system updates; procedure review, etc. Receive, track, document,
consolidate and properly manage disposal of solid and hazardous
waste(s). Receive and manage environmental incident (spill)
reporting and response. On call to conduct after hours / weekend
environmental incident reporting if necessary. Serve as SPOC for
Regulatory inspections Provide oversight to / assist with
environmental records documentation control. Conduct environmental
review and approval for field permit-to-work activities. Work with
field personnel to build consistency of environmental related
programs and procedures. Provide training and awareness support
regarding changes and enhancement of environmental components to
field. Provide support to development and tracking of annual
targets, objectives and environmental management programs. Work
with projects personnel to identify and mitigate potential
environment hazards. Conduct / coordinate onsite project
inspections or monitoring for effective waste management and spill
prevention practices. Interface with Drilling and Projects as
necessary to coordinate proper waste disposal and environmental
review. Coordinate and implement environmental improvement projects
as necessary. Provide assurance for tracking and reporting of
wildlife sightings. Provide assurance for deceased wildlife
tracking, disposal and reporting. Assists the environmental and
safety departments perform internal and regulatory agencies audits
and inspections. Coordinates and conducts training programs at
field level meetings. Assists, with and participates in, the
company’s emergency response situations and spill management
program. Assists the EHS staff with due diligence and environmental
remediation projects by tracking all essential documentation
associated with projects. Assists EHS department with tracking of
air, water, and waste permits, and modifications and documentation
of permits. Assists in maintaining the company’s environmental
files and programs. Implements and maintains company signage
program for regulatory compliance. Adheres to the company’s values
– integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation. Supports
company vision and mission. Adheres to established work schedule,
attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings. Other
Job Responsibilities: 100% Kenai-based position. Other duties as
assigned by management. Qualifications: Eight - ten (8-10) years
minimum regulatory and environmental oil and gas experience.
Ability to accurately solve problems and exceptional proficiency in
data management. Ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with employees, supervisors, other
departments, officials, and the public. Ability to complete
multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities. Excellent written
and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate
complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
Outstanding administrative and organizational skills. Education
Requirements: Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited
four-year university or college. Preferred: Degree Specialization
in Environmental Sciences. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
None.
