Job Description At a Glance \n \n Company: Howmet Aerospace \n Location: Big Lake, Minnesota \n Job Type: Full-Time \n Pay Range: $25 – $40/hr (based on experience) \n Shift: 2nd Shift \n Shift Differential: 20% \n Overtime: Paid after 8 hours per day \n Experience Level: Entry to Mid-Level \n Work Authorization: U.S. work authorization required (no visa sponsorship) \n \n \n Why This Role Exists\n This role supports long-term production needs at Howmet’s Big Lake facility, part of the company’s aerospace structures business. Machinists here are responsible for producing precision parts and assemblies that meet exact aerospace and defense requirements. \n \n The Work You’ll Be Doing\n In this role, you will: \n \n Plan machining and assembly sequences \n Set up and operate CNC machining equipment \n Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications \n Assemble machined components into finished assemblies \n Perform drilling, tapping, deburring, and finishing operations \n Inspect parts using precision measuring tools \n Complete quality and production documentation \n Troubleshoot issues and support process improvements \n Collaborate with engineering, quality, and inspection teams \n Maintain a clean and safe work environment following 5S standards \n \n \n Machines, Controls & Inspection\n \n Machines: CNC mills, lathes, and grinding equipment (3-, 4-, or 5-axis) \n Controls: Siemens, Fanuc \n Inspection Tools: CMMs, micrometers, indicators, height gages \n \n \n What We’re Looking For\n Required: \n \n High school diploma or equivalent \n 1 year of machinist experience \n Blueprint and specification reading ability \n Experience setting up and operating machine tools \n Strong attention to detail \n \n Preferred (Not Required): \n \n Trade school training or extended machining experience \n Multi-axis machining exposure \n GD&T knowledge \n ERP system experience \n Strong communication and teamwork skills \n \n \n Materials You’ll Work With\n \n Aerospace-grade metals including titanium and advanced alloys \n \n \n Why Machinists Like Working Here\n \n Stable aerospace work with long-term programs \n Competitive hourly pay with shift differential \n Excellent benefits starting Day 1 \n Clean, structured, safety-driven environment \n Opportunities to grow skills within a global aerospace company \n \n \n Pay, Benefits & Schedule\n \n Pay: $25 – $40/hr DOE \n Shift Differential: 20% \n Overtime: Paid after 8 hours/day \n Medical, Dental, Vision: Day 1 eligibility \n 401(k): 4.2% match additional 3% company contribution (7.2% total) \n Target Performance Pay: 5% \n PTO 10 Paid Holidays \n Paid Parental Leave: Up to 3 weeks at 100% pay \n Life Insurance & Employee Assistance Program \n \n \n Apply\n Interested machinists can apply directly through hireCNC.
