Job Description:
The University Police Department at the University of Alaska
Anchorage is seeking applicants for its Event Security Team. We are
looking for individuals who will be dedicated to increasing the
overall safety environment of campus. Team members will be
non-sworn and unarmed and will help to identify and locate
potential risks and hazards and increase the university community
sense of security and safety. For information about the University

performed under direct supervision. Participate in training
programs. Apply basic security officer practices and procedures
under the guidance of Event Supervisor. Strong verbal and written
communication and customer service skills. Recordkeeping skills.
Conflict resolution and organizational skills. Ability to operate
computers and specialized equipment. Ability to exercise judgment
under difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Must possess a
valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive a University owned
and/or leased motor vehicle. Must successfully pass a thorough
background investigation, as directed by University of Alaska Board
of Regents Policy. Must be able to provide credible testimony in a
court of law. Specific job requirements or physical location of
some positions allocated to this classification may render the
position security sensitive. This position is considered a Clery
CSA position. Special Conditions: This position is for campus
special events and schedule is based upon the events. Maybe
requested to assist in campus emergencies or shift coverage of
campus secuirty based upon addiitonal security training and obtain

this role the applicant would have previous experience in the
security field, event staffing, or public safety and community
relations skills. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high
school, vocational school or equivalent. College experience
preferred. Position Details: This is a part time, temporary
position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary
Schedule , Grade 77, based on education and experience. This is a
pooled position, which means that the position remains open over
the entire academic year. *To be eligible for this position,
