Job Description:
TRIO Upward Bound (UB) is looking for Adjunct Professors to
instruct high school students in a variety of topics as a part of a
6 week college-preparatory summer program. UB is a grant-funded
program that serves 120 limited-income or potentially
first-generation college students from Bartlett and West Anchorage
High School to prepare them to successfully complete high school
and enroll in post-secondary education. Each summer UB offers a
6-week summer program for participants to continue developing
skills to prepare for college. The position runs May 18-June 26th
with courses starting June 1st. The time before courses start is
for training and course preparation. The program is hiring for
adjuncts for English, math, science, cultural elective, and career
exploration elective courses. Previous courses have included
Podcasting and Public Speaking (English), Yoga/Sanskrit and
American Sign Language (cultural electives), programming and
natural history (science), as well as Salsa Dancing (cultural
elective), Journalism and Debate (career exploration electives).
The daily schedule will vary depending on the course. Courses will
run Monday through Thursday with the following tentative schedule:
Science Monday and Wednesday 9:15am-10:40am Math Tuesday and
Thursday 10:50 am-12:15 pm English Monday and Wednesday
10:50am-12:15pm Cultural Elective Tuesday and Thursday 9:15
am-10:40 am Career Exploration Electives Monday and Wednesday 1:15
pm-2:40 pm There are multiple positions available for each area.
The salary is $1,000. Summer instructors for TRIO Upward Bound will
be responsible for the development of course curriculum, delivery
of the content, and the oversight of student safety and engagement
throughout their contracted time with the program. Minimum
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree/Master's degree in field related
to the position, or an equivalent combination of training and
experience. Position Details: This position is located on the UAA
campus in Anchorage, AK. This is a temporary adjunct position with
up to 20 hours per pay period between May 18 and June 26, including
3 hours per week of lessons June 1-June 26. Pay is $1,000 total,
split into biweekly paychecks. This is a pooled position and
