Job Description:
The UAA School of Social Work is seeking applications for
adjunct instructors who are interested in expanding their practice
to include part-time teaching in undergraduate and graduate social
work programs. We seek talented candidates the School of Social
Work can invest in, provide training and mentoring to, and
establish long term working relationships with to enhance the
diversity and practical experience of our collective faculty for
the benefit of our students and programs. Adjunct Faculty assist in
advancing teaching and service in addressing the elevated social
issues in the State of Alaska. Adjunct faculty will develop and
deliver instructional materials, including lectures, assignments,
and assessments, in accordance with program curriculum and learning
objectives. They will provide guidance and support to students,
including mentoring, advising, and academic assistance. Adjuncts
will be asked to work effectively with colleagues and students of
various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds as well as promote
the school's mission of engaging in decolonizing and
anti-oppressive teaching practices while focusing on community
engagement and a commitment to social justice. To thrive in this
role, previous teaching experience is highly desirable as are
strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to
effectively engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
Applicants must have experience relevant to teaching specific
course content in one or more of the following BSW and MSW
curricular areas: human diversity; human behavior in the social
environment; social work practice with individuals, families,
groups, organizations, and/or communities; case management; social
work research; social work program evaluation; and social welfare
policy. Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning
environment that fosters student success and achievement will
ensure a positive experience for all. Minimum Qualifications: A MSW
or a master's degree in a closely related discipline is required to
teach other courses (i.e.,diversity, policy, human behavior,
research, program evaluation). Preferred: Doctorate degree in
Social Work or a closely related field. Position Details: This
position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in
Anchorage, Alaska. This is a part-time, for credit, adjunct faculty
position. Salary is based on experience, as well as the number of
previous semesters taught within the University of Alaska. To be
