Job Description:
The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) University Police
Department (UPD) is seeking applicants for a student worker to
assist with a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. The
Student Worker will work under the general direction of the UAA UPD
Records & Accreditation Manager and the UPD Chief of Police.
Examples of typical work include: clerical and administrative
(filing, copying, scanning, shredding), communications (composing
emails, and corresponding with the community verbally (via the
telephone and in-person). The UAA University Police Department

successful in this role, you should be able to communicate with
various departments, alumni, students, faculty, staff, and
community members effectively and professionally while exercising
strong human relation skills. The ability to work independently,
with knowledge of general office procedures and etiquette are
expected. You should be able to use various software platforms to
compose correspondence, create spreadsheets, and prepare
presentations (Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Google
Docs/Sheets/Presentations). We are looking for someone with
knowledge of or the willingness to learn policies, procedures and
organizational structure of the University of Alaska Anchorage, the
University of Alaska Board of Regents, and various laws and
statutes pertaining to law enforcement. The ability to type 40 WPM
or more is a plus. Minimum Qualifications: To be eligible for
student employment, an applicant must: a. Be enrolled in the
University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in
the current semester of employment. Must demonstrate plans to
enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for
employment between semesters. b. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative
grade point average (GPA) or approval from the MAU Senior Student
Services officer or his/her designee. Position Details: This
position is located on the Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska.
This is a part-time, temporary Student Worker position, up to 20
hours per week while school is in session. Starting hourly rate is
$11.34/hour. As a condition of employment, the final candidate must
submit a UAA-UPD F3 Nonsworn Applicant Personal History Statement,
successfully pass a criminal background check, and obtain a FBI &
Alaska Department of Public Safety CJIS Security Clearance. This is
a pooled position and applications are reviewed as needed.
