Alaska Overview ConocoPhillips Alaska and its heritage companies have more than 50 years of business history in Alaska. As Alaska's largest oil and gas producer, the company produced an average 182 thousand barrels of oil and 9 million cubic feet of gas per day. ConocoPhillips, with about 1,100 Alaska employees, holds major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, the Kuparuk River Unit, and the Colville River Unit (Alpine). ConocoPhillips operates the Kuparuk and Alpine oil fields, has an ownership interest in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet. Description Provide support as part of a collaborative team for: - The State of Alaska (SOA) Department of Revenue (DOR) and local property tax compliance, monthly accruals, analysis, payments, appeals and annual filings. - Royalty redetermination calculations as required per unit agreements - The SOA Department of Natural Resources (DNR) royalty audits and appeals - SOA DOR Production Tax support - The internal and external audits as required by ConocoPhillips Alaska (CPAI) Your responsibilities may include: - Understand the Alaska Property Tax statutes (AS 43.56) and regulations (15 AAC 56), how to apply them to CPAI operations and the processes/systems in place for compliance - Prepare the monthly SOA property tax accrual and payments - Complete and present various property tax variance analysis to management - Collaborate with the AK BU analysts and operations to understand the costs impacting property tax - Collaborate with AK BU Analysts, Strategy & Portfolio Management & others regarding budgets, LRP, forecasts and property tax impacts - Coordinate and complete the SOA, municipality and other annual property tax renditions and filings - Coordinate audit requests for both CPAI internal, CPAI external, SOA DOR and DNR auditors - Review business process changes for potential effects on the property tax calculation. - Calculate royalty redeterminations as required per unit agreements - Production tax support for monthly assessment, refiles and annual filing - Maintain and update documentation of desk procedures and processes as necessary - Provide routine and ad hoc variance analysis and internal reports - Recommend potential business process changes - Assist with special projects Basic/Required: - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S, citizen or national or an alien admitted as permanent resident, refugee or asylee - Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance or Accounting or foreign equivalent - 5+ years financial experience - 3+ Oil and gas experience - Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, (pivot tables, macros, formulas) Preferred: - Familiar with BI, Essbase, Spotfire and Sequel - Advanced SAP skills - CPA Certification - Familiar with Alaska Business Unit - Familiar with SOA Production, Property Tax or Royalty laws and regulations - Understanding of joint venture accounting or auditing - Ability to work with and influence others, both internal (financial, technical, operational, management) and external (SOA agents, external auditors) - Work effectively with all levels of employees and across group/department boundaries - Ability to translate relevant accounting financial data into relevant information - Strong communication skills (written, oral, presentation) - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to function independently as well as work as an effective teammate - Able to handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize numerous tasks, and work effectively under pressure to meet firm deadlines without direct supervision - Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right - Builds positive relationships based on trust and seeks collaboration across organizational boundaries to achieve goals - Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals To be considered for this position you must complete the entire application process, which includes answering all prescreening questions and providing your eSignature on or before the requisition closing date of November 22, 2019.
